STM 1 Test Kit

The STM 1 kit is designed for monitoring 3 main characteristics of the lubricant on the Diesel engine operation site:

• Dilution of lube oil with fuel oil
• Acidity of the aqueous phase
• Pollution with carbon matters

The tests are simple and rapid, and the kit includes a detailed testing and interpretation guide so that the engineer can make immediate decisions for maintaining the Diesel engine and increasing its lifespan.

The tests conform to the French Navy STM 1 specification.

Dilution

The method consists in comparing the viscosity of the used oil with the viscosity of two reference oils of known dilution. Viscosity comparison is done instantly using a VCD falling ball viscometer.

Pollution

This test uses a comparative method: a drop of oil to be tested is poured on a special filter paper on which it spreads and forms a spot. The spot is compared to a reference chart for interpreting.
