The GESERCO FlashTest™ apparatus is a manual Pensky-Martens type closed-cup flash point tester.

Designed for fast, simple and cost-effective determination of flash points in petroleum products, from the ambiant to 370°C.

The flash point determination conforms to the ASTM D93, IP34 and ISO2719 standards.

Determination of the flash point:

  • fuel oils
  • cutback residues
  • used lubricating oils
  • mixtures of petroleum liquids

Determination of the flash point of petroleum products:

  • distillate fuels
  • lubricating oils
  • homogenous petroleum liquids

Measuring principle

The test cup is filled up with a defined volume of sample to be tested.
The temperature of the test sample is first rapidly increased, then slowly and at constant rate as the flash point is neared.
The sample is placed in a closed cup, stirred and heated. A flame is briefly introduced at intervals to detect ignition.
The lowest temperature at which application of the test flame ignites the vapours above the surface of the liquid is taken as the flash point.
